We went over a lot of different topics in class today. I wanted to list some of the things that interest me the most and where I see potential to further dive into.
Indigenous Protocol and AI - Thinking about the ethical usage of AI. A lot of information and cultures get lost if we categorise communities too much. Do we lose something and can we transfer our values to the digital space? Can we give AI a soul which we can bond with and share values? Are these machines homogeneous or diverse? Depending on how we develop AI in the future their behaviour will get more and more unpredictable.
De-Evangelising Technologies - Critical thinking skills of people. When do we ignore facts for comfort? Putting too much faith into tech that may never come to pass. Do we push too many problems and hope for them to be solved later? Essential Oils and other products in Healthcare also factor into this. The Path of least Resistance is the shortest one. What works for one person may not work for others.
"no cap" - Different prices with different values. Where do things come from and do we get what we pay for but more importantly, where does the money go when we buy something? Labour rights are an important factor that should play just as important of a role as the quality of a product that gets produced
Deep Ecology / "When Species Meet" - Human isn't the only participant in our world. We aren't the center and there are many different ways to interact with our environment. Meeting between people of different cultures and even different species can lead to new and interesting perspectives on interaction. How do we communicate with things and people which we have no prior experience with? Nasa sent out probes (Voyager) and they were thinking about different ways how to communicate.
Tech Saviours - Putting your blind trust into people. Not understanding the consequences and systems. Ignoring problems and finding easy solutions.
Social, putting our trust into a system that we don't understand. Latch onto a culture, group or religion which provides solutions to problems. How much of your behaviour is based on not knowing? Relate to it because of a figurehead like Elon Musk or Steve Jobs.
What motivates people to trust? There are a lot more atheists, did they get replaced by brands? It acts like it's science. What do people gain when they buy new technology? Brands as a religion with Elon as a figurehead. Putting blind trust into the person and the technology that they praise.
Tech promises? Do they live up to what they promise?
Brand apple lifestyle. Apple is like a religion. An environment that you have to buy into. Tech Figurehead.
There are certainly a lot of different ways to further develop these topics and il be interested to see where further study will lead me.
